Editorial Policies

Commitment to Integrity

The Indian Journal of Clinical Research in Dentistry (IJCRD) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of integrity, ethics, and transparency in scientific publishing. The journal adheres to the ICMJE Recommendations for reporting, editing, and publishing scholarly work, as well as the COPE, WAME, and OASPA Principles of Transparency and Best Practice in Scholarly Publishing. Editors follow the COPE “Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors” to ensure fairness, confidentiality, and impartial decision-making.

Plagiarism Policy

Plagiarism is defined as the misrepresentation of another person’s work, ideas, or expressions as one’s own without proper acknowledgment. This includes direct copying, paraphrasing without citation, or unauthorized reuse of images, figures, or data.

  • Self-plagiarism is also prohibited, including the reuse of previously published content by the same author without proper reference.
  • All submissions are screened using plagiarism detection software’s iThenticate and QuillBot before prior to review.
  • Manuscripts found to contain plagiarized material will be rejected immediately or retracted if already published.

Peer Review Policy

IJCRD follows a double-blind peer review process to ensure fairness and objectivity.Identities of both authors and reviewers are concealed throughout the review process.Each manuscript is evaluated by at least two independent experts in the relevant specialty for originality, validity, and significance.The journal adheres to COPE Ethical Guidelines for Peer Reviewers to maintain confidentiality and transparency.

Conflicts of Interest Policy

Authors must disclose all financial or non-financial conflicts of interest at the time of submission, including employment, consultancies, stock ownership, honoraria, patents, or funding sources that could influence the work.A statement regarding conflict of interest (or the absence thereof) must be included in the manuscript.If funding sponsors had no role in study design, execution, or reporting, this must be explicitly stated.To learn more, visit this link.

Retraction Policy

Retractions are issued when published content is proven to be fraudulent, plagiarized, or unethical.Retractions clearly identify the affected article by title and authorship.The journal follows COPE Retraction Guidelines to ensure fair handling and integrity of the scientific record.

In-House Submissions

When a manuscript is authored by an editorial board member, it is handled by an independent editor who oversees the peer review process to avoid any conflict of interest.Suchmanuscripts undergo peer review by at least two external reviewers.Editorial board members are not involved in decision-making regarding their own submissions.

Ethics Committee Approval

All research involving human participants must have prior approval from an Institutional Review Board (IRB) or Ethics Committee. The IRB approval number and protocol details must be included in the manuscript. Research must comply with the Declaration of Helsinki ethical principles, which should be explicitly mentioned in the methodology section.

Editor Responsibilities

Editors are responsible for the final decision to accept, revise, or reject manuscripts and may request multiple revisions before acceptance. Editorial decisions are based solely on scientific merit, originality, and relevance, independent of author demographics or affiliations and details are kept strictly confidential.

Conflict of Interest: Editors must not use unpublished material for personal research without written consent.

Authors Responsibilities

Authors must submit original work that has not been published or submitted elsewhere. Only individuals who made substantial contributions should be listed as authors and must ensure all data presented are accurate with appropriate citations. Authors must promptly notify editors of any significant errors or inaccuracies found post-submission or post-publication.

Reviewers Responsibilities

Manuscripts under review must be treated as confidential documents and reviews must be fair, unbiased, and based solely on scientific merit. Reviewers should identify any relevant work not cited and report potential plagiarism or overlap. Also, reviewers who are unable to review within the given timeframe must inform the editor promptly.

Misconduct Penalties

Duplicate Submission or publication: If a manuscript is found to be under review or published elsewhere, the review process is terminated, all authors are notified, and they may be blacklisted from submitting to the journal for up to three years. Confirmed cases of duplicate publication are reported to the authors’ institutions, and the published article will be retracted.
