Abstract

An awareness and understanding of the presence of unusual root canal morphology is essential as it determines the successful outcome of endodontic treatment. Aberrations in root canal anatomy are commonly occurring phenomena. We report a clinical case of a maxillary left first molar with two palatal root canals. The morphology is atypical because it is characterized by two palatal canals having separated orifices and canals running parallel to each other but joined at the apex. Modifications to the normal access opening and examination of the pulpal floor for additional canals are stressed in such type of cases.
